Meanwhile her brother Tano has his own surprising airport encounter while baby brother Marco bonds with an employee who is missing his family.

Lisa does a face-plant in front of a car in a parking lot and makes a new friend. Aldo thinks back to a time when he was the unwelcome "other," when suddenly his cranky unconscious bigotry raises its head and Lisa has to pack her parents back into the car. Tano and Nisha arrive at Marco's with a surprise guest in tow.

When Ella enters a German-speaking fugue state and thinks Lisa is her Grandma, Lisa panics and calls Bill. Meanwhile, Ella's visions take her back to her childhood in Germany and the dangers she faced. Aldo is pulled over on the 210 freeway and comes THAT close to being arrested.

Lisa is determined to keep Bill at her side. And Tano is about to reveal a big surprise... when Ella collapses and has to be rushed to the hospital.

Lisa waits for Ella's release from the hospital. Tano flashes back to his breakup from Sarah and wonders how his life could have been different. Christmas dinner falls to pieces when Tano learns that Lisa's been keeping a secret that could indeed have given him a totally different life.

With another family holiday behind her, LIsa struggles to figure out what she wants out of life. She remembers that misadventure she and her friends had in high school - one they've never spoken of since - and wonders if that's where her troubles started.
Tano and Nisha head home to start a new phase of life together. Marco and Manuela's life is headed for a big change as well when Aldo and Ella decide to stick around. Lisa says goodbye to Bill for now, not knowing someone is waiting to give him a big HELLO back in NYC.
